Dolce & Gabbana
The pair of designers have created a brand that has outfitted the most famous celebrities and artists. In 1993, the designers created the costuming for Madonna's Girlie Show. The duo even designed all of the outfits for Whitney Houston's tour in 1999. Stars like Madonna, Demi Moore, and Nicole Kidman continuously wear Dolce & Gabbana creations to Hollywood movie premieres and other star-studded events.
The typical "look" of Dolce & Gabbana is sexy, sophisticated, and usually features the color black. Dolce & Gabbana is usually described as having a couture "hipster" look as well. Dolce & Gabbana has also made wearing underwear as outerwear fashionably appropriate attire. Corsets, elaborate pinstripe suits, and the little black dress are other fashion looks the designer label has perfected.
The Dolce & Gabbana brand extends much farther than haute couture and fashion runways. The brand creates a plethora of items including renowned sunglasses, eye wear, purses, perfume, and ready-to-wear collections.
Dolce & Gabbana is known for also pushing the limits through its artistic inspiration and advertising. In February of 2007, Dolce & Gabbana created an advertisement featuring a man pinning a woman to the ground by her wrists, with a crowd of on-looking men. The Labour and Social Affairs Ministry of Span ultimately banned the ad, citing the illegal treatment of women.
Dolce & Gabbana continues to be one of the most popular labels in fashion, perhaps for its no-holds approach to fashion and ability to always generate a bit of controversy. The brand has definitely evolved into one of the most influential designers of all time.
