Elite Model Management

Elite Model Management is arguably the most notable leading modeling agency in the world having represented hundreds of big name models such as Tyra Banks, Elle Macpherson, Gisele Bundchen, and Naomi Campbell.

The first agency of the modeling company was founded in 1972 by John Casablancas and Alain Kittler in Paris, France and has quickly expanded throughout the world in the last thirty eight years. Five years later, in 1977, another agency opened in New York shortly followed by the institution of the Elite International Network. It was in New York that the term "supermodel" was first coined. By the mid 1980s, the company had instituted over 20 agencies throughout the world and had more than doubled their revenue. Today, the company currently consists of 36 agencies worldwide and manages over 800 models with representatives from five continents, the most recent addition being Asia in 2003. Elite Model Management has also, since 1983, been the producer of the well known modeling contest, Elite Model Look. This contest is currently conducted in 55 countries and the goal of which is to recruit young models. The contest averages approximately 350,000 contestants with the final being held in a different location each year. In order to commemorate the company's introduction into Asia, Singapore was chosen to hold the final of Elite Model Look in 2003 and Shanghai was picked in 2004 and 2005.
